Introduction

The African Union Commission, as part of efforts to assess progress of implementation of the higher education priority areas of focus of the Plan of Action for the Second Decade of Education for Africa, is collaborating with the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) and the Ministry of Education of Kenya, to organize an exhibition of good practices and promising approaches in higher education at the next Conference of Ministers of Education in Africa (COMEDAF) scheduled to take place from 22nd - 26th November 2009 in Mombasa, Kenya.

Objective

The objective of the exhibition is to provide visibility and inform Honorable Ministers of the tremendous efforts being made by higher education institutions, stakeholders and partners in the implementation of the priority areas of focus of the Plan of Action for the Second Decade of Education for Africa.

Background

At its first extra-ordinary session in Khartoum, Sudan, in January 2006, the Conference of African Ministers of Education adopted a Framework of Action for the Second Education Decade of Education for Africa, with higher education as one of seven priority areas of focus.
